Grief as Popular South African DJ Shot Dead in Johannesburg.

A prominent South African media personality and entertainer has been fatally gunned down in the nation's economic hub Johannesburg, sending shockwaves across a nation battling entrenched crime.

Warrick Stock, popularly known as DJ Warras, was shot and killed in the city centre on Tuesday afternoon.

Officials stated the 40-year-old media personality was approached by three individuals, one of whom began shooting at him before fleeing on foot.

The reason of the shooting has not been established and no one has been arrested are in custody, according to authorities.

Authorities said that Stock was attacked as he was exiting a location near the city center landmark.

"Authorities believe the victim was confronted by three unknown suspects after he parked his car, and they shot at him before escaping on foot," an official report said.

The DJ sought to escape after he was wounded but collapsed a short distance away.

Police added that Stock had an unused firearm and nothing was taken during the assault.
