The Renowned Musician Calls On Support to Send Palestinian Solidarity Song to UK Festive Top Spot.

A charity drive is aiming to send a traditional song from Palestine to the peak of the festive singles chart. The campaign aims to deliver assistance to Gaza's residents while also spotlighting Palestinian cultural expression.

A Possibility for Support and an "Surprise Victory"

Musician and artist Brian Eno, who contributes to the track, stated that the release called 'Lullaby' represents a moment to support Palestinians this festive season. He noted the potential for an unexpected chart success.

“That would be amazing if that occurred, yes,” he said. “I’m not gonna be completely disappointed if it fails to, holiday tracks are a unique phenomenon.”

Defiant Message of Dignity and Freedom

Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who performs on the reimagining of a folk song called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the song's defiant core message.

“It occupies a profound significance for a lot of people,” Barghouti explained. “It’s basically saying that I would rather die in dignity than live a life without freedom. That is the core idea of the song; we want to live a life of dignity that we are entitled to as Palestinians.”

Track's Background and Contributing Musicians

The song was recorded in the wake of a major charity concert held in the autumn. Initially planned to be captured during the live event, the performance was omitted from the lengthy event due to time constraints.

The impressive roster of musicians featured on Lullaby includes a selection of acclaimed names from the music world. All participated in the September show, which reportedly raised a significant sum for charitable causes.

Creation and Launch

Lullaby was produced by a team of talented individuals. The song showcases a combination of the traditional Arabic lyrics with new English lyrics.

The team running the campaign have clarified that their goal is to collect the highest amount for a charitable pot. These donations will be distributed to initiatives supporting Palestinians through an established charity.

“We haven't set a rigid aim,” a spokesperson said. “We will pursue the maximum achievable. Naturally, the more the merrier. It all goes out to those in need in Gaza.”

The situation in the area was noted for its extreme devastation, with a huge proportion of buildings described as in ruins or severely impacted.

“In that context, a few million doesn’t make a massive dent. But I think what does make a difference is primarily spreading knowledge of this plight and demonstrating there’s another side to the story.”

The song is scheduled for release on Friday. Additionally, a full recording of the benefit event will be made accessible to view on a popular streaming site from mid-December.
