Three-time NBA MVP Jokic sustained a "heartbreaking" injury to his knee as the Denver Nuggets fell by a score of 147-123 at the Heat.
The Serbian center sustained the injury towards the end of the second quarter following an inadvertent collision with fellow Nugget Jones.
His teammate landed on the foot of the big man, who immediately fell to the court grabbing his knee.
The veteran player, who tops the NBA season in rebounds and dimes, posted a score of 21 points and eight assists in the game before sustaining the injury.
He will undergo an scan on Tuesday to evaluate the severity of the problem.
"Instantly, he knew there was a problem," said Nuggets coach David Adelman.
"Injuries are part of the game. Whoever who is injured, that's tough to see, especially somebody as important as him. We'll find out more on Tuesday."
"We'll move on as a team. Clearly, at this moment, I am focused just about him as a person and the letdown of facing an event like that."
